Garden City Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®– Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet quality measures developed with more than 90% of compliance for 12 consecutive months for the “Overall Diabetes Cardiovascular Initiative Composite Score.”
Garden City Hospital earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients. Before discharge, patients should also receive education on managing their health, get a follow-up visit scheduled, as well as other care transition interventions.
GCH earns national recognition for efforts to improve management of heart failure.
GCH has received the American Heart Association’s GoldPlusGet with The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Quality Achievement Award for our commitment to managing heart failure in patients. The award recognizes our hospital’s commitment to ensuring heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines founded in the latest scientific evidence. The goal is speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for heart failure patients.

Garden City Hospital is the only hospital in Detroit (defined by the CBSA) and Wayne County to achieve the Healthgrades 2019 Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award™. From 2015-2017, patients treated at hospitals receiving this award have on average 37.9% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital.
Garden City Hospital is among the 22 Prime Healthcare hospitals to earn an ‘A’ from the Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade. This designation recognizes the hospital’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has selected Garden City Hospital as a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care, an expansion of the national Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are hospitals recognized for delivering quality specialty care safely and effectively, based on objective measures developed with input from the medical community. To receive a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care designation, a hospital must meet the same quality criteria as Blue Distinction Centers while also meeting requirements for cost efficiency.
Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) met overall quality measures for patient safety and outcomes, developed with input from the medical community. Blue Distinction Centers+ (BDC+) also met cost measures that address consumers’ need for affordable healthcare. Each facility’s cost of care is evaluated using data from its Local Blue Plan.
