That was four years ago and because of both Dr. Bandemer and Dr. Rothman's high-quality compassionate care, my family and friends now witness a more positive healthier me.

ICU/IM call is scheduled on a tiered system.  The program provides MKSAP and Uworld to all residents individually.  DynaMed available online on Epic platform for immediate clinical reference.  Program provides two other study guides picked by residents for collective use.

The program’s emphasis is on community-based general surgery. Out-rotations provide additional experience in Trauma, Surgical Intensive Care, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Hepatobiliary, Surgery Oncology, Pediatric Surgery and Transplant.  The program is geared toward a hands-on approach, teaching in the operating suite and at the bedside.  Residents work closely with a core group of surgeons and have progressive responsibility as they gain knowledge and skills.  Residents also assist in educating and supervising junior house staff and medical students on service.

- [Cardiology Fellowship](https://gch.org/medical-education/programs/cardiology-fellowship/): The Cardiology Fellowship at Garden City Hospital offers an intensive, community-based program emphasizing general clinical, invasive, and noninvasive cardiology. This three-year program uses a highly integrative approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. Bedside teaching, as well as performance, interpretation, and application of all diagnostic modalities, are incorporated into a holistic approach to patient care. There are ample opportunities for elective rotations, both on and off-campus, during the second and third years. Weekly academic sessions follow the American College of Cardiology self-assessment program series. Teaching is active at all levels.

TEE images, however, are clearer because they are taken with a scope from inside your body. Transesophageal echocardiography at Garden City Hospital provides exact images necessary for a highly accurate diagnosis of cardiac problems.

Recent data suggest that peripheral vascular disease continues to be a prevalent yet under-diagnosed condition.

Many wounds fail to heal because the supply of oxygen received by the damaged tissue is too low for the body to heal itself. Hyperbaric therapy causes oxygen to increase in the blood. It nourishes tissue with poor circulation, improves the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria, stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and boosts the body’s own natural healing process.

We treat patients with wounds that have not healed or have little to no improvement. Non-healing wounds are often associated with other, underlying medical conditions. The center’s wound care staff is experienced and successful at treating wounds complicated by diabetes, poor circulation, bone infections, bacterial infections, blood vessel disease, and malnutrition. These physicians were committed to providing high-quality healthcare locally. Originally, the hospital was named Garden City Maternity Hospital. Then, the hospital purchased Leland Sanitarium (renamed Ridgewood Hospital) in Ypsilanti and broke ground in 1959 on the current facility, located on Inkster Road in Garden City. The doors opened in August 1960 and grew to what it is today, a state-of-the-art medical facility with over 300 licensed beds. In July 2014, GCH joined Prime Healthcare Services; a leading quality hospital system which delivers high-quality healthcare and contributes daily to the local community. GCH has an award-winning staff of over 350 of the area's best and brightest physicians from almost every specialty.

Dr. Doig currently serves on the Hospital Board of Directors, is an active member of a Hospitalist Group, and is the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In 2014, he became Chief Medical Officer of Garden City Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare. Dr. Doig and his wife Julie are the proud parents of 7 children.
- [Chris Fulks](https://gch.org/leadership/chris-fulks/): Chris Fulks is the Regional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Prime Healthcare's Michigan market, including Lake Huron Medical Center and Garden City Hospital. As the CFO, Chris manages the financial security and risk. He has more than 25 years of experience in health care accounting, finance and revenue cycle. Joining LHMC in 2005, Chris previously served as the organization’s Controller. Chris routinely demonstrates his ability to implement new systems, increase efficiency, implement internal controls and initiate productivity improvements. He is a current member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association; serves on the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee at St. Clair County Community College; and was previously on the Board of Directors for the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce, serving on multiple governance committees. Chris earned his Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University. He currently resides in St. Clair, Michigan. with his wife and three children and enjoys hunting and fishing in his free time.

Refluxed stomach acid that touches the lining of the esophagus can cause heartburn. Also called acid indigestion, heartburn is an uncomfortable, burning feeling in the chest, behind the breastbone, or in the upper part of the abdomen.
- [Colon Cancer Screening](https://gch.org/services/surgical-services/endoscopy-services/colon-cancer-screening/): A colonoscopy is a safe outpatient procedure that allows a physician to examine a person’s rectum and intestine for polyps and the presence of colon cancer. A typical colonoscopy takes about 30 minutes and is accompanied by medication to allow a person to be comfortable during testing. Once the colonoscopy has begun, if a doctor finds a polyp, they can easily remove it. Doctors will also biopsy suspicious-looking tissue for additional testing.
