About the Program
Residency Overview
As a five-year program, residents are given the opportunity for increasing responsibility as they gain experience and knowledge for each rotation. The overall goal of the residency is for the resident to obtain the necessary knowledge and experience during the five-year program to successfully complete the certifying exams of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and to enter the practice of orthopedic surgery as a well-trained, highly competent orthopedic surgeon. This program is a Fully Accredited ACGME Program and we are AOA certified.

Program Director
Paul Drouillard, DO
Dr. Drouillard is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery. He is also fellowship-trained in joint replacement and trauma. Dr. Drouillard provides a full range of treatments for musculoskeletal disorders, including minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Drouillard received his doctorate from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Garden City Hospital. Dr. Drouillard completed a fellowship in Trauma and Adult Reconstructive Surgery. Currently, he is the program director at Michigan State University at the Garden City Hospital campus. His professional memberships include the AOA, AOAOS, and the MOAOS.
MCurriculum
PGY 1
A minimum of three months of structured education in surgery, to include:
- General Surgery
- Trauma Surgery
- Orthopedic Hand Surgery
- Vascular Surgery
- Anesthesia
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- General Orthopedics – 5 month rotation
A minimum of one month of structured education in at least three of the following:
- Anesthesiology
- Intensive Care
- A maximum of six months of orthopedic surgery
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR)
